  1. Hi Faith. I am somewhat familiar with Canva. I have used it only one time, but found that it was easy to get the hang of. As a marketing major, I would love to get more familiar with Canva, especially since I believe it would definitely come in handy for me in my career. Once I really learn the ins and outs of Canva, I truly think it could be a game changer for creating marketing pitches, product campaigns, etc. I love how many templates Canva has to choose from! App Smackdown: Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is an application created in 1988 for macOS and Windows to edit and create images and graphics. Photoshop allows users to create digital works of art! Almost all companies use Adobe Photoshop, which is a required skill in advertising and marketing. This app is available on different forms of technology such as desktops, laptops, iPads, and smartphones. Photoshop has been handy in my recent positions as a social media intern and social media manager. I have been able to edit headshots, edit action photos of athletes in action, create graphics for social media, create graphics for live stream use, and much more! It is extra helpful that so many different features are all in one application! I can't wait to further my own knowledge on the app as my career takes off!

Chapter 5 Summary

There have been so many different tools that I have used throughout my educational career. Growing up, my generation was one of the first to have technology at our fingertips throughout our K-12 years.  "Tools should be employed to aid the learning," (pg. 73  Nussbaum-Beach & Hall, 2012).   The chapter explains that Web 2.0 tools are not useful to users unless they understand how the application/tool is helping them learn. You should always understand the benefits of the tool before use. For example, I explored the use of Canva before downloading and buying the pro version. In the book, the author gives us insight into a website called Delicious.com. This website is a tool to organize tagged websites This is a valuable tool for a learning community to connect and see what research is going on within the community. Subscribing to others in your network can be very convenient because once you are subscribed you will be able to see what others have recently tagged.
